AIDA 3: ADVANCED FREEDIVER

The AIDA 3 Advanced Freediver course builds on the skills learned in the AIDA 2 Freediver course, and is designed to cover the necessary skills and knowledge for a recreational freediver to be able to safely dive to depths of 20 meters or more. Our course is designed to further develop skills from previous levels, to acquire new skills, and gain a higher knowledge of safety procedures and techniques. Examples of some new techniques that are introduced in a AIDA 3 course are free-fall, frenzel equalizing, the use of training tables, and much more. Students will train these skills in the most common disciplines of freediving: static apnea, dynamic apnea, free immersion, and constant weight. In our AIDA 3 Freediver course, students will also learn to how perform a static apnea of at least 2 minutes and 45 seconds, a proper dynamic bi fins dive of at least 55 meters, a constant weight bi-fins dive of at least 24 meters, a simulated black out rescue from at least 10 meters, a rescue surface tow of 50 meters, a mask & fin removal with controlled ascent from 10 meters, and proper free fall positioning.

Class size: 1-4 students.

Duration:
4 Days | 7 Hour classes each day from 10am-5pm
Day One: Classroom / theory study and confined water sessions.
Day Two: Classroom / theory study and open water sessions.
Day Three: Open water sessions.
Day Four: Open water sessions and exam.

Included in the course:

  • Online Course Manual.

  • Theory session(s) that covers the physics and physiology of deeper freediving, equalization, barotrauma, buoyancy, hypoxic events, training concepts, decompression sickness and surface intervals, code of conduct, and more.

  • Confined water session that focuses on static apnea and dynamic apnea disciplines, further understanding of concepts such as training tables, proper warm up procedure, refining bi-fin technique, maximizing streamlining, proper weighting, and more.

  • Open water sessions that focus on depth diving in two disciplines (free immersion and constant weight), technique refinement, extending dive times, and more.

  • Introduction to no fins variation of dynamic and constant weight freediving.

  • Learn to dive with just a nose clip (no mask).

  • Understanding, experience, and training of the free fall / sink phase.

  • Education on frenzel equalization techniques and training.

  • Advanced freediving safety training and LMC / black out rescue techniques.

  • Advanced pre-diving stretching, breathing, and relaxation routines.

  • Introduction to diaphragmatic stretches.

  • Introduction to dry training and confined water training specific to deeper freediving.

  • Expanded and refined knowledge of freediving equipment.

  • Certification upon completion.

Course Requirements:

Diver must be 18 years or older (16 with parental consent).
Diver must have an AIDA 2 Freediver certification, or an equivalent certification from another training organization.***
Diver must have an active EFR Primary Care (CPR) certification.

***If the diver is crossing over from another agency, a skill assessment must be performed, as required by AIDA.  This assessment consists of an open water session, confined water session, and written exam.  The assessment does not apply to the total sessions for an AIDA 3 course completion.  The assessment may add additional cost to the AIDA 3 course cost.***
